Shaheer Khan calls himself the biggest Batman Fan in Pakistan and by all means, he isn’t joking around.
To show his love for Batman, Shaheer went to extreme ends to build his own Batmobile.
I have always been a huge Batman fan since I was a little kid. I always wanted a Batmobile for myself. It was the coolest thing a kid could own! – Said Shaheer Khan
It took over a year to build the Batmobile
Fulfilling his dream and showing love for Batman wasn’t an easy task. Shaheer started building the Batmobile based on ‘The Dark Knight’ model which was featured in the trilogy. It took a full year to build the vehicle.
It was a tough process and we overcame many obstacles, physically and emotionally. We were building a car from scratch without any blueprints and redesigning the insides according to our understanding, – he added.
Shaheer shared the journey by explaining how he started off with moving machinery tyres for the four rear wheels. He also had to acquire aircraft tyres which were installed on the front.
Then he went on to build a completely customized chassis for the car.
The entire car was carved and brought to shape by human hands and nothing was done by a machine. It was carved out in wood first and then cast out in fiber entirely.
According to Shaheer, the most challenging part of building the vehicle was to get the aircraft tyres to work.
Since the car does not have a front transaxle, it had to be designed in such a way that it holds the wheels from the outside making it the opposite of how a normal car front would function – he said.
What really makes this the most accurate Batmobile in the world is due to its canopy
According to Shaheer, the canopy is the most important feature of the vehicle. He wanted to make sure it was as accurate as possible to the Tumbler Batmobile featured in the movies. He had to make sure the vehicle had a functioning canopy.
The canopy still doesn’t open the way it should be but that isn’t something Shaheer is worried about because in the films, the canopy opening from the front was made possible by using an electronic dummy with shots of inside the car being taken on a soundstage. This makes Shaheer’s batmobile the only batmobile in the world having a functional canopy.
